HOW BESPOKE WORKS

WHAT’S WITH THE PRICING? In specialty printing, the first card is always the most expensive one. There are layout designers, plate-making artists, and master-level craftsmen that all must engage together for the first card. After that, the magic can be applied to each subsequent card for the cost of the materials and per-piece labor. The craft, product, and wow you get back from each person who receives a note on your Bell’INVITO stationery, an elegant Bell’INVITO gift, or a coveted Bell’INVITO invitation is different than any you can purchase through mass production. It’s not that we aren’t big enough to offer a lower price. It’s that what we offer can never be mass produced. Specialty printing is simply special. This quality takes time and effort like nothing else. On top of that, you’ll love the Bell’INVITO touch and its mark of distinction.

If you're doing the math, you'll notice the first card is included in the base price. All cards or sets added are their own much lower price per unit.

YOUR CUSTOM DESIGN starts with one of our designers taking your requests and bringing them to life in layouts that will be used by the artisans in our production studio to produce your custom order. The only 'automated' part of a custom fine printing order is the ordering process itself. If you have chosen to see a proof, we will email you a PDF of your layouts. Printing cannot begin until you have emailed us back with your approval. Once we have received your email, you will receive a confirmation and the approximate date your order will be ready to ship or pick up. If you waived a proof, your order will be on the fast-track through the design department and straight into our artist's production schedule.

DIGITALLY PRINTED ORDERS can be executed fastest. We still queue up your order to our super-savvy digital machines manually to ensure quality. Fine cotton papers are finicky and require some extra TLC when printed digitally. Once printed, envelope liners (if chosen) are created, die cut, and applied into your envelopes by hand. Last, Quality Control counts each order twice, records the details of your order for our records next to their name in case there are questions, and packages it up to be delivered to you as pristinely and quickly as possible.

LETTERPRESS ORDERS are sent to plate production as soon as your approval is received (or waived). As in all letterpress printing the first color is applied to our vintage press by a skilled craftsman. This first impression requires testing and re-testing to reach the shade and perfect placement on your cards. Your letterpress die (we use recyclable polymer) is mounted to the press plate and, once the machine is set up perfectly by hand, each card is hand-fed for its beautifully pressed-in color application. Once your quantity is completed, with a few extras for good measure, the machine is thoroughly washed down, and if you have a second color your second clean plate is applied to a freshly cleaned press. The press is inked again, and the artist spends time perfectly aligning your next round of color impressions to the first round they have already applied. Once your full personalization is printed, envelope liners (if chosen) are created, die cut, and applied into your envelopes by hand. ENGRAVED ORDERS are also sent to plate production as soon as your approval is received (or waived). In traditional fashion, engraved printing (known in the industry as die stamping) begins with a set of engraved copper plates. Once plates are etched and ready, the first color is applied to our vintage press's fountain by a skilled craftsman. This first impression requires testing and re-testing to reach the shade and perfect placement on your cards. Your dies are mounted to the press and, once the machine is set up perfectly by hand, each card is hand-fed for an unmistakably elegant raised-color print. Next, your quantity is completed, with a few extras for good measure, the machine is thoroughly washed down, and if you have a 2nd color, your second clean plate is applied to a freshly cleaned press. The press is inked again, and the artist spends time perfectly aligning your next round of color impressions to the first round they have already applied.
